Warriors in 1-1 draw with DRC, maintain Group G top position

THE Zimbabwe Senior Men’s Football Team have drawn 1-1 with DRC to maintain their three point lead at the top of Group G of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.
The Warriors found themselves in front with just a minute into the game through a scrambled effort by Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Khama Billiat.
Knox Mtizwa thought he had put the hosts ahead moments later when his effort was ruled out for off-side.
The Zimbabweans were however unfortunate when impressive defender Teenage Hadebe was forced to beat his own goalkeeper while under pressure.
From that time, the Ovidy Karuru captained side stood its grounds and forced a hard fought draw with their highly rated opponents.
Giant goalie George Chigova was substituted in the first half through injury.
Zimbabwe maintain poll position with 8 points amassed from 4 matches played so far and remain the only unbeaten side among the four that are vying for the two slots to play with the best on the continent next year.
Fellow group opponents Liberia and Congo (Brazzaville) were set to play their fixture Tuesday evening.
