A GROUP of 65 Zimbabweans just returned from the United Kingdom has refused to be taken for compulsory Covid-19 quarantine at Belvedere Teachers College in Harare demanding to be taken to hotels.
This was revealed Monday by Information Ministry permanent secretary Nick Mangwana.
“We received 65 Zimbabweans from the UK. Available place of quarantine is Belvedere Teachers College.
“They are refusing this accommodation demanding hotels. Govt can’t afford. Why come from a covid19 hotspot during a lockdown & demand posh facilities at stretched public cost?” Mangwana posted on Twitter.
Zimbabwe Covid-19 outbreak has been linked to locals returning from countries such as the UK and the US.
In the wake of the Covid-19 menace, Zimbabwe has banned foreigners from visiting the country but has allowed locals to return on condition they will submit themselves for compulsory quarantine.
