Tsvangirai’s ex-lover makes surprise funeral appearance

LOCADIA Karimatsenga Tembo, former lover to Morgan Tsvangirai, made a surprise appearance at the late MDC-T leader’s funeral wake in Johannesburg on Thursday.
However, Tsvangirai’s current wife Elizabeth Macheka was nowhere to be found after she was reportedly barred by the ex-Prime Minister’s relatives from seeing him on his deathbed at a South Africa hospital.
But it is Karimatsenga’s visit that was surprising after she had a short-lived but financially rewarding relationship with Tsvangirai.
The funeral wake is being held simultaneously in two places; at Tsvangirai son’s home in Johannesburg and at the late politician’s Highlands home in Harare.
Tsvangirai, who lost his first wife in a tragic car crash 2009, was involved with many women.
But the most dramatic of his relationships was with the now South African based Karimatsenga, who took a fortune out of the once popular opposition leader 2012 whom she had sued for breaking his promises to marry her.
She was Tsvangirai’s wife for only 12 days before the breakup.
She went on to claim maintenance of $15 000 per month, but later settled for a once-off payment of $300 000.
Karimatsenga, now referred to as an apostle, is also a well-known businesswoman.
