South African beauty forced to dump pageantry after public digs up her past racist tweets
By Showbiz Reporter
A SOUTH AFRICAN beauty, who was hoping to enter the 2020 Miss South Africa pageantry, has been forced to pull out following public pressure to dump the competition for racist comments she made via social media when she was a teenager.
Bianca Schoombee, now 21, began trending on Twitter as a favourite potential finalist among the public after posting photos of herself as part of her Miss SA entry.
The love quickly turned into disappointment and outrage, however, on Wednesday when offensive tweets posted by her over six years ago were dug up and widely shared.
Schoombee apologised for the tweets, stating that they were shared when she was still a teenager and that she had since changed.
However, social media users could not buy it.
Bianca said she’s ready to be #MissSA2020 & Black Twitter went back as far as 2013 just to prove that once tweeted racists tweets & she’s been body shaming others therefore #BiancaMustFall hai this App. #MissSA2020 #Bianca #BiancaSchoombee pic.twitter.com/9rKJ6CC7sD
