Mnangagwa declares 15 June as national day of prayer, fasting

PRESIDENT Emmerson Mnangagwa Thursday declared June 15 as the day locals shall observe a National Day of Prayer and fasting in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak in the country.
In his address to journalists at State House, Mnangagwa said he shall lead the process together with a group of church leaders from various denominations in the country.
He said the day shall see Zimbabweans seek the Almighty God’s “mercy, wisdom, help and healing to overcome this deadly pandemic” that has disrupted normal life and also the economy”.
“I also urge you all on this day, to join us giving up one, two or all meals fasting,” said the Zimbabwean leader.
Mnangagwa advised Zimbabweans not to congregate in groups that exceed 50 individuals at a time.
He said it was best for locals to take part in the day of prayer “as families, small groups of church services not exceeding fifty people”.
The state house prayer event shall be broadcast live on ZBC and on social media platforms from 10 am to 12 pm.
