MDC Alliance VPs Biti, Karenyi-Kakore, party officials freed on $1 000 bail

MDC Alliance co-vice presidents Tendai Biti, Lynette Karenyi-Kore and five party officials have been granted $1 000 bail each following their Friday arrest for allegedly violating the country’s lockdown regulations.
This MDC officials appeared before Harare magistrate Bianca Makwande.
They are Gladys Hlatywayo, who is party secretary for international relations, her deputy Lovemore Chinoputsa.
The MDC officials also include party provincial chair for Manicaland David Chimhini, deputy youth spokesperson Womberayi Nhende and Vongai Tome.
The group was arrested on Friday as they tried to enter the party’s Harvest House headquarters to address a press conference.
The incident followed the seizure of the party’s headquarters by the Thokozani Khupe led MDC-T with the assistance of police and soldiers.
