Mangwana taunts vapostori congregants for ‘behaving like drunkards’
By Zimstar News reporter
Information ministry permanent secretary Nick Mangwana could have touched a raw nerve Wednesday after likening some apostolic sect worshippers to drunkards.
Mangwana was commenting on a twitter thread in which he was asked why government seemed to turn a blind eye when some members of the vapostori continued to congregate when government has banned all public gatherings including churches as part of its Covid-19 prevention measures.
“They are not allowed to gather. They are just behaving the same way nezvidhakwa,” Mangwana said, adding that police were not seeing the white-robbed worshippers when they congregate in violation of the law.
Members of the apostolic sect are often paraded to boost numbers during some Zanu PF political gatherings.
Both President Emmerson Mnangagwa and his late predecessor Robert Mugabe have not been shy to mingle with large vapostori congregations during their electoral campaigns.
