FORMER MDC-T Vice President Thokozani Khupe has hired top lawyer and politician Lovemore Madhuku to challenge her recall from parliament by the Nelson Chamisa led opposition’s main wing Thursday.
This was revealed by former MDC-T spokesperson and Khupe ally Obert Gutu on Thursday.
“Professor Lovemore Madhuku has been instructed to launch an urgent chamber application seeking an order setting aside Hon. Dr. Thokozani Khupe’s recall from http://Parliament. Watch the space..” Gutu said via twitter.
Khupe, MDC-T proportional representation MP, has had a bitter fallout with his MDC-T colleagues after she adamantly refused to recognize Chamisa as the popular opposition’s new leader.
This follows the death February this year of party President Morgan Tsvangirai who succumbed to a long battle with colon cancer.
The former Deputy Prime Minister has declared she was the legitimate MDC-T leader and has vowed to contest the next elections under the banner of the former co-governing party.
But Chamisa took his fight with his former ally a gear up through what was a widely expected recall from the house.
Madhuku, on his part, has been a favourite with expelled politicians.
He was once hired by then Zanu PF legislators Temba Mliswa and Didymus Mutasa who had also been expelled from parliament by the ruling party during the onset of Zanu PF’s bitter factional fallout 2015.
