Covid-19: Zimbabweans poke fun at ministry’s mathematical boob
By Staff Reporter
ZIMBABWEANS have met with both amusement and scorn, a Covid-19 health ministry update whose figures did not tally.
In its latest publication of Covid-19 test figures, the health ministry Saturday reported there was now a cumulative total of 547 locals tested for coronavirus so far.
In coming up with the number, the ministry broke down the figures as 528 tested negative, plus 14 positive, adding up to 542. Of the 14 confirmed cases, there are 3 deaths.
This means the ministry figures are more by five and this was not explained in the statement which reported an additional one death, up from the 13 reported Friday.
“It seems these figures were tallied by ZEC (Zimbabwe Electoral Commission),” remarked one social media user in a derisive reference to the country’s controversial poll management body.
ZEC has been accused of rigging the country’s national elections in favour of Zanu PF.
