Dynamos have eased to second spot on the latest Castle Lager Premier Soccer League standings after beating visiting Bulawayo Chiefs 2-0 on a Sunday afternoon that saw Highlanders drop points in a disappointing goalless draw with Tenax.
In the match played at the National Sports Stadium, Trevor Mavhunga beat the half time whistle with a headed effort to give Dynamos the advantage.
With the match seemingly headed for a single goal victory for the hosts, Evans Katema made it 2 with a stoppage time spot kick.
With the victory, Dembare displaced Chicken Inn who dropped points after playing out a goalless draw away to ZPC Kariba on Saturday.
Now sitting on 42 points to its tally, the Tonderayi Ndiraya coached outfit now has the same number of points with Chicken Inn but occupy second spot by virtue of a superior goal difference.
Dynamos are now 8 points adrift of high flying log leaders FC Platinum who notched the 50 point mark after seeing off Harare City on Saturday.
At Barbourfields, Highlanders’ resurgence under the new Brazilian mentor came under scrutiny after failing to beat Tenax in a nil-all draw.
In other matches played at different centres countrywide, Ngezi Platinum began life after coach Benjani Mwaruwari’s sacking with a 2-0 win over visiting Triangle United.
A 1-1 draw between Manica Diamonds and Yadah completed Week 23’s round of premiership fixtures.
