Hundreds of St John Apostolic Church members thronged the Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport this Thursday to welcome back home, popular gospel musician Mambo Dhuterere who was returning from a musical tour in the UK.

Donning their white and green garments, the congregants had to anxiously wait for the burly gospel artiste who endured a lengthy search by the customs officials at the country’s biggest airport.

As soon as he exited the arrival terminal, there were jubilation scenes as the congregants broke into song welcoming the 30-year-old musician.

Speaking to journalists, the Ndoringa Imi hitmaker who was clad in urbane apparel, revealed that the UK tour was a worthy experience.

“Apart from captivating fans with my music, the biggest takeaway from the shows was the professionalism exuded by the promoters there which I think we should emulate here.

“I am also delighted that after our performance, we touched the hearts of some fans who decided to turn a new leaf in their lives and start to follow Christ,” Mambo Dhuterere said.

The husky-voiced chanter reiterated that he remained unfazed by the negativity leveled against him on social media platforms.

“I don’t read much into the negativity on social media because I know the purveyors who will be looking for clout on the internet.

“I remain focused on my music,” added the musician, born Darlington Mutseta.

The St John Apostolic Church brand ambassador had a sterling performance at his maiden UK show in Leicester where he performed among great Zimbabwean artistes who include Alick Macheso and Winky D.
