Good Samaritan security guard robbed of gun

A Good Samaritan security who was guarding premises of a Harare business entity was robbed of his gun by a man who had sought shelter from the place while pretending to be desperate.

The incident, according to police, happened this past week.

Said the police, “On 13/04/22, ZRP Hatfield recorded a case of theft of a firearm where a security guard who was guarding a premise at Little Matopos, Hre offered shelter to an unknown suspect who appeared desperate and looking for overnight shelter.

“The suspect requested to be escorted into a nearby bushy where he intended to relieve himself and while being escorted, the suspect snatched the security guard’s BSA 12 bore Shot Gun and ran away.”


Meanwhile, in another incident involving robbery, police say they are investigating a robbery case in which a Harare taxi driver (31) lost a Toyota Spacio vehicle to three unknown suspects.

The incident happened 13 April at around 0100 hours.

The complainant was hired by the suspects at Mbudzi Round About on the pretext that they wanted to be taken to Amsterdam Park, Harare.

Along the way, the suspects attacked the complainant and stole the vehicle.


In another case, police in Dzivarasekwa, Harare recorded a case of theft of a motor vehicle in which a man (24) left his Honda Fit vehicle parked at Cheukai Guarded Car Park, in the suburb on 10 April 2022 at around 4pm.

He came back 13 April to find the vehicle missing.
