A motorist on Sunday lost a gun and US$2 500 cash to thieves in Harare’s crime ridden Mbare high density area.
According to a report posted on Twitter by police, the incident happened during daylight.
Said the police, “The ZRP is investigating a case of theft where a motorist (36), driving a Honda CRV vehicle lost a black satchel bag containing a revolver Astra Magnum 357 with magazine of six rounds, various clothes and US$ 2500 on 03/04/22 at about 0945 hours.
“The complainant was attending to a broken tow hitch on his vehicle at Magaba area Mbare, Harare when he discovered the offence.”
In another incident, police in Marondera arrested two suspects over a robbery case in which they allegedly robbed a complainant of US$180 cash and a Toyota Hiace baby Quantum vehicle.
This was after the suspects, identified as Tafadzwa Goremusandu (36) and Olatious Mayemba (44), had been offered a lift to Marondera from Simon Muzenda bus termini, Harare.
“The suspects attacked the complainant and stabbed him thrice on the chest, right thigh and right limp,” police said.
“One of the suspects took charge of the vehicle and diverted the route towards Ten Miles where they dumped the complainant by the roadside.
The suspects were apprehended by members of the public, a short distance from where they had dumped the complainant after the stolen vehicle broke down.
