A Nkayi Agritex Officer has landed himself in trouble with the law after demanding fees from villagers for the transportation of fertiliser banks which had been delivered for free by Grain Marketing Board trucks.
Police confirmed the arrest of Bukuhulu Mlotswa (52) who faces criminal abuse of office charges.
It is alleged that Mlotshwa swindled the community members out of their money by forcing them to pay for transportation of 300 bags of fertiliser which had been delivered for free by the GMB.
Said the police via their official Twitter handle, “The ZRP confirms the arrest of an Agritex officer Bukuhulu Mlotswa (52) for criminal abuse of office on 19/03/22 at Ward 6 Nkayi.
“The suspect allegedly collected some money from the community as payment for transporting 300 bags fertilizer to the Ward yet the GMB truck which was used was not supposed to be considered for any transport fee.”
In a separate incident, police in Bulawayo confirmed the arrest of a 41-year-old man who was found in possession of 1.2 kilograms of dagga in his vehicle.
Marcell Ncube was found in possession of dagga which was placed in two plastic bags behind the passenger’s seat.
