Local gospel musician, Trymore Bande is up for car theft with claims the artiste duped a Chitungwiza car owner of his vehicle.

The Muroora chanter appeared Thursday at the Harare Magistrates’ Court facing car theft charges.

Court was told that sometime in June last year, Dzidzai Moffat, the complainant, left his vehicle in the hands of one Bigboy Nyarisambo to advertise it for sale at a garage at Chikwanha Shopping Centre in Chitungwiza.

Court further heard that on June 28, Bande approached Nyarisambo showing interest to buy the car.

Nyarisambo is said to have then organised a meeting between Moffat and Bande after which the parties agreed the vehicle cost US$2 500.

Bande is said to have requested for some few days to organise the money but later took advantage of Moffat’s absence to convince the person left in the custody of the vehicle to release it to him on the promise he was going to pay the money when the complainant returned.

Bande is however said to have become evasive afterwards.

The musician was remanded out of custody to March 7 this year.
