More backlash for rape accused Man United star as fans hand back his Number 11 replica jerseys

Manchester United removed all Mason Greenwood merchandise from the club website on Monday as angry fans returned replica shirts bearing the player’s name to the Old Trafford megastore.

As Greenwood remained in police custody over allegations of rape and assault, the backlash over his arrest continued.

Team-mates including Cristiano Ronaldo, David de Gea, Paul Pogba and Marcus Rashford appear to have unfollowed the 20-year-old on social media while Nike suspended his sponsorship deal.

United’s shirt sponsors TeamViewer said they are ‘closely monitoring developments’ and official partner Cadbury announced Greenwood will not feature on any of their marketing products.

His name has been removed from the list of players on the club’s online shop, with any search for Greenwood drawing a blank.

And a number of fans turned up at the megastore demanding a refund for replica Greenwood No 11 shirts that they no longer want. Mailonline
