In a bizarre incident, a security guard Tuesday shot and killed a 22-year-old man but the victim’s father mysteriously raced the body to a mortuary and went on to report the cause of death to the police as a mine accident.
This was revealed by police Thursday through their official Twitter handle.
Said the ZRP, “Police in Chegutu are investigating a murder case in which a man (22) was shot dead by a security guard at Swavera Mine on 25/01/22.
“The victim’s father, who had already taken the body to a local private mortuary, reported the case to the Police as sudden death, alleging that the victim died after he fell into a mine shaft.
“It was later revealed that the circumstances were not correct after Police discovered a gunshot wound on the deceased’s back. Police has since recovered the spent cartridge and a shotgun used in the commission of the crime.”
Meanwhile, in another incident, a 40-year-old Mukumbura man killed his neighbour whom he accused of frequenting his home.
Police said they were investigating a case of murder which occurred at Chirandure Village, Mukumbura on 19/01/22, in which one Moses Mangezi (40) fatally assaulted his neighbour, a man (41) after a misunderstanding over frequent visits, by the victim, to the suspect’s residence.
“The victim sustained serious head injuries and died on 25/01/22 at Parirenyatwa Hospital where he was admitted. #notomurder,” police said.
