A drunk 25-year-old West Nicholson man struck his victim several times with burning logs leading to the death of the 45-year-old.
Police reported the violent incident via their official Twitter handle Saturday.
Said the ZRP, “Police in Mat South arrested a 25 year old man in connection with a case of murder which occurred on 13/01/22 at Majoda Farm, West Nicholson.
“The suspect, who was allegedly drunk and misbehaving, struck the victim (45) several times on the head and stomach with two burning logs over an unknown issue resulting in the instant death of the victim. #notomurder.”
Meanwhile, in the same province, a couple was robbed of cash, gold and a car all worth tens of thousands of dollars by six armed men who pounced on their home to commit the offence.
Said the police, “The ZRP is investigating a case of Armed Robbery which occurred on 14/01/22 at Maphisa, Kezi, Matabeleland South in which six unknown male adults who were armed with an AK47 rifle, a 9mm star pistol and an okapi knife pounced at a house and robbed a married couple of their ZAR29 000 and USD1 000 cash, 1,150kgs of gold bullion valued at USD78 280, a 9mm pistol and a Toyota Wish motor vehicle.
“The suspects went on to kidnap the victims’ employee, a man aged 25, whom they later dumped in the stolen motor vehicle in Bulawayo.”
Police appealed for anyone with information to contact any of their stations nearest to them.
