Six armed robbers Wednesday stormed two neighbouring Rusape homes, in one instance tying occupants with home curtains before making off with cash in excess of US$15 000 and a car belonging to one of the victims.
Police revealed the incident via their official Twitter account Thursday.
Reported the police, “The ZRP is investigating cases of robbery, unlawful entry into premises and theft which occurred at Ridgemond Park, Rusape on 12/01/22 at about 0100 hours.
“Six unknown suspects who were armed with two unidentified pistols broke into a house and stole a 300AH Solar battery, two cell phones and a toy-gun.
“The suspects then proceeded to the next house where they pounced at five complainants who were asleep in separate bedrooms and tied them with curtains while demanding cash.
“They stole US$15 000, ZAR 2 200, four cellphones and drove away in one of the complainants’ Honda Fit vehicle.”
Armed robbers have in the recent past become more daring, often breaking into homes known for keeping large sums of money in cash.
Some of the incidents have resulted in death or injury of the home occupants as the suspects often do not think twice about shooting their victims.
Police have declared war on armed robbers which however continue.
