A Bulawayo woman suffered the double misfortune of being robbed and raped same time by a suspect who had broken into her Bulawayo home to steal cash and a cell phone from her.
The incident, according to police through their Twitter handle Friday, happened in the second largest city’s Northend suburb Wednesday.
“The ZRP is investigating a case of unlawful entry in aggravating circumstances, rape and robbery which occurred at a house in Northend, Bulawayo on 05/01/22,” police said.
“An unknown male suspect forcibly opened the door of the house to gain entry before threatening the victim with a screwdriver and demanding money.
“The suspect also raped the victim and stole cash amounting to ZAR 3 140 and an Alcatel cell phone.”
Meanwhile, police report a case of suspected murder in which a man believed to be approximately 30 years of age was Tuesday found in a closed bush mining pit which is about three metres deep.
Said the police, “On 05/01/22, ZRP Inyathi recorded a case of suspected murder at Rio Deo Ore Mine. A body of a male adult approximately aged 30 years was found in a closed bush mining pit which is about three metres deep.
“The body was partially immersed in water in an inclined position with a khakhi tracksuit bottom on the knees with a yellow short inside.
“A deep cut scar which might have been caused by a sharp object was observed on the head above the left ear.”
Police appealed for anyone with information which may lead to the identification of the body and the suspect.
