A 15-year-old Zaka boy teamed up with a 33-year-old companion to fatally assault a villager (40) who had confronted the pair for stealing firewood at his place.
In a tweet Friday, police said that the two face murder.
“The ZRP is investigating a murder case which occurred at Machezero Village, Zaka on 07/12/21 where two suspects aged 15 and 33, fatally assaulted a man (40) with logs after he confronted them for stealing firewood at his place.
“The victim succumbed to the injuries on 09/12/21,” said the police, without releasing further information concerning the shock incident.
Meanwhile, police say they are also investigating a case of robbery which occurred at Atlas 16 Gold, Mine on 08/12/21 at about 0300 hrs.
Eight unknown suspects who were armed with knives and iron bars attacked two security guards who were on duty at the mine and tied them with barbed wire before “proceeding to gold carbon room where they stole 130 kgs of pregnant gold carbon worth approximately US$62 000”.
In another case, Police in Bulawayo are investigating a robbery incident where a truck driver was robbed of property worth US$1 440 after a breakdown at Umguza Bridge, along Harare-Bulawayo Rd on 08/12/21.
