Two mentally challenged men in murder acts…as girl (13) found killed

A mentally challenged man allegedly stoned his mother to death while another attacked and killed an imbiber at a traditional drinking ceremony in Chiredzi recently.

Police said Sunday they were investigating a case in which a 24-year-old mentally challenged man 16 September fatally struck his mother (49) with stones over an unknown issue.

Police did not indicate where the incident took place.

Added police, “In a related case, which occurred on 18/09/21, a suspected mentally challenged man (43) attacked imbibers at a traditional beer drinking ceremony in Chiredzi and struck a man (53) thrice on the head with a hoe. The victim died on the spot.”

Police urged citizens to take care of their mentally challenged relatives.

“The ZRP urges members of the public to monitor and ensure that mentally challenged persons in their custody are receiving medical treatment,” said police.

In an almost related case of murder, police say they are investigating the murder on a 13-year-old minor whose body was found in an advanced state of decomposition at Bester Mountains, Shamva 16 September.

Said the police, “The victim (13) went missing from Maxton, Farm on 29/08/21 and was found dead in an advanced state of decomposition in the mountain.”
