SK Moyo’s health challenges mount

Unwell Zanu PF spokesperson and former minister Simon Khaya-Moyo’s health challenges continue mounting with the party Sunday announcing Mike Bimha to act on his behalf.

Zanu PF secretary for administration Obert Mpofu announced in a statement Sunday that Bimha, who is Secretary for Indigenisation and Economic Empowerment, will also stand in as acting Secretary for Information and Publicity.

Patrick Chinamasa, acting party commissar, was also acting spokesperson before Bimha’s appointment to stand in for SK Moyo.

Mpofu confirmed SK Moyo’s inactivity was as a result of health challenges but could not be brought into further comment about his colleagues’ health status.

“Cde Bimha is standing in for him (SK Moyo) while he is attending to his health issues,” Mpofu said.

The Zanu PF boss said SK Moyo’s health status was the latter’s personal choice to talk about.

“That is a personal issue and he would be the best person to talk about his health issues and even so he may not be happy talking about personal problems,” he said.

Mpofu said despite SK Moyo’s recurrent health problems, he remained substantive secretary for information.

SK Moyo has been unwell for some time.

In 2017, he was in hospital for almost eight months and still received his pay Policy Co-ordination and Promotion of Socio-Economic Ventures minister in the President’s Office.

SK Moyo is one of the handful cabinet ministers who were consigned to Zanu PF leadership positions by President Emmerson Mnangagwa as consolation for removing them from their comfy government positions.
