Chamisa devotee dares Mwonzora to recall him from parliament

MDC Alliance legislator for Hwange Central, Daniel Molokele has dared Douglas Mwonzora to order his expulsion from parliament amid rumours the trigger-happy MDC-T leader was considering a fresh round of recalls on opposition MPs disloyal to him.

Molokele is one of the MPs still loyal to Nelson Chamisa who have survived several recalls wantonly extended to mayors and councillors of a Chamisa persuasion.

It has emerged however that the political hangman and his MDC-T are contemplating a new set of recalls on Matabeleland North MPs.

Molokele has chosen to take a defiant stance, insisting no amount of threat to his tenure as a sitting MDC Alliance legislator will alter his loyalty to Chamisa.

“I need to state it in no uncertain terms that l am more than ready to be recalled at any time. I am 100% supportive of the MDC Alliance leadership that was elected at Gweru in May 2019. Advocate Nelson Chamisa is my President,” said the former MDC Alliance spokesperson.

Chamisa and former MDC co-vice president Thokozani Khupe – later to be replaced by Mwonzora – have been involved in a fierce tussle for control of the MDC empire since the 2018 death of founding party leader Morgan Tsvangirai.

The courts have ruled Mwonzora as the legitimate leader of the feuding main opposition party but Chamisa retains a significant control of the MDC grassroot support base.
