President Emmerson Mnangagwa has finally proffered his congratulations to Zambia’s President-elect Hakainde Hichilema following the latter’s resounding victory in the neighbouring country’s just-ended elections.

In a Twitter post Tuesday, Mnangagwa said he looked forward to working with the one-time veteran opposition leader who has closer relations with Nelson Chamisa of MDC Alliance.

“Congratulations @HHichilema on your election victory. I have no doubt that you will serve Zambia with distinction for the benefit of all. I look forward to working with you over the coming years for the benefit of both peoples,” Mnangagwa said.

As an incumbent, Mnangagwa was seen closer to outgoing Zambian President Edgar Lungu.
